Indian Varroc Group to acquire Turkish company
Varroc, one of the world’s largest producers of automobiles and motorcycle lighting and electrical parts, is in talks to acquire Turkish Sa-Ba Industrial Products Inc. The weight of Indian companies in the Turkish automotive industry has been increasing recently. Last year, Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the biggest tractor manufacturers in the world, created a stir in the sector, by acquiring Erkunt Traktör for $76 million following a 75 percent stake in Hisarlar Makine for TL 71 million ($15.8 million) in January.

SK E&C teams up with UNIT International to build power plants in Iran
South Korea’s SK Engineering & Construction Co. (SK E&C) joined hands with Belgium-based energy company UNIT International S.A. to lead Iran’s largest-ever private power development project worth 3.4 billion euros ($3.6 billion), lighting up business prospects in the Middle Eastern country where international sanctions were lifted. The company said Sunday it inked an agreement with UNIT International to join the Belgian energy developer’s ongoing project to construct and operate five new gas-fired power plants in Iran. Marking it as the Iran’s largest-ever private power plant development project, the power plants will have a combined power generation capacity of 5,000 megawatts.

OMV agrees to sell Turkish unit Petrol Ofisi to Vitol for $1.45 billion
Austrian energy group OMV (OMVV.VI) said it agreed to sell its Turkish fuel supply and distribution unit Petrol Ofisi to Vitol Investment Partnership, managed by the Swiss-based commodities firm Vitol VITOLV.UL, for 1.37 billion euros ($1.45 billion).

Cereal suitors gather for sale of Weetabix
Weetabix, the UK’s second biggest cereal brand, is being circled by rivals as its owners look to offload it, having struggled to crack the Chinese market. Quaker Oats owner PepsiCo is also to be involved in the process, as is Turkish group Pladis, which bought Jaffa Cakes maker United Biscuits in 2014 for £2bn. Cheerios maker Nestle and Lucky Charms owner General Mills are understood to have expressed an interest.
