Chinese renewable power giant looks to build global empire
Other investors are wary of Brazil, but when Duke Energy wanted to sell 10 hydroelectric dams there, a Chinese utility shrugged off the country’s economic turmoil and paid $1.2 billion to add them to an energy empire that stretches from Malaysia to Germany to the Amazon. State-owned China Three Gorges Group is spending heavily to buy or build hydro, wind and solar projects at a time when Western utility investors are pulling back and President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to revive coal use has raised doubt about U.S. support for renewables.

RoRo and Intermodal Freight Customer Buys Majority Shareholding in Port Terminal
Turkish-based Ekol Logistics has acquired a 65% share of Europa Multipurpose Terminals (EMT), the operator of pier VI in the Port of Trieste which Ekol uses for its RoRo and intermodal train services throughout Europe. The acquisition is an addition to Ekol developing a new RoRo terminal at the port of Yalova, Turkey which should open early next year.

Hitachi Acquires Turkish Kurt & Kurt to Further Strengthen the Healthcare Business
Turkey will be positioned as the fifth strategic center for the global operations of Hitachi in healthcare business -TOKYO, Dec 9, 2016 – Hitachi, Ltd. announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 75% shares of Kurt ve Kurt Ithalat Ihracat ve Mumessillik Anonim Sirketi (“Kurt & Kurt”) and making it a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi on April 1, 2017.
